in my inbox this morning

I got an email this morning from Priscilla of Boston with some links to spring 2009 runway shows. More and more nontraditional dresses are coming out. I love it!

more monique

I absolutely LOVE these colored dresses in monique’s eveningwear. Hoping to find some of these at a couple of the stores I’ve been inquiring with.

engagement rings

While looking for my own engagement ring (yes, I totally helped), I found some really great options if you are looking for something pretty unique. Fay Cullen is a great resource for antique rings and jewelry - or even just to serve as inspiration for your ideas in collaboration with your local jeweler.

1st dress trip

So, while visiting one of my oldest friends, Lauren, in Boston, we visited a couple local dress salons for my first time trying on dresses.  Wow, what an overwhelming, crazy process!  After trying on many a dress, I at least saw some similarities in a lot of my favorites.  I have a big chunk of dresses I’m trying to locate to try on yet before I make any kind of decisions, but here are some of the ones that I’ve tried on and liked so far or want to find something similar to.  I may very well end up with a colored dress or at least something a bit different!

this dress from Melissa Sweet. It comes in a bunch of colors.

poppies

I love poppies and hope to incorporate them into my flower arrangements. They are so graphic, yet delicate. I love the texture within the petals. Here is a bunch of images of poppies for some inspiration.

diamond in the rough

When I started my search for a ring, I found some really great ideas for an alternative bride. I stumbled upon this website, Diamond in the Rough. They literally make jewelry with rough diamonds, Very elegant looking jewelry. Check out some of my faves.

These come with quite a hefty price tag, but alternatively, I’m sure you could speak to a jeweler about finding a rough diamond and making something custom. Since they are rough, I’m sure no two shapes are the same anyway and probably best to design around the diamond. Here is one resource I found online for rough diamonds. I’d love to see some in person!

food

Since Zach and I are planning a smaller wedding, we are hoping to have some really good food! We love the idea of kind of a tapas style for a reception. I want there to be lots of food, a good variety, and encourage lots of mingling. Here is some nice inspiration for some yummy looking food!

Last, but certainly not least. We are hoping to bring in some yummy gelato from my favorite place, Caporgiro. They make their gelato from scratch, using a lot of local produce, and come up with some really interesting flavors. Chocolate banana is always a staple of mine. Lime with Cilantro is a nice surprise, amongst all the other mouthwatering flavors! And they are so pretty to look at!

prop stylists, part 1

While on one of my favorite design blogs, decor8, I stumbled across some still life & prop stylists and thought these would be great wedding inspiration. I did some searching on the internet and found some great ones. These are great for unique flower arrangements and decor, food, or even just color palettes!
